Day 29: Deep Freeze

January 30, 2019 by Tracy 15,694 Comments

Are we all in a deep freeze right now? I am in South East Manitoba and it’s -33 Celsius (-27.4 Fahrenheit)

Anthony had a frozen water line and a very cranky tractor today! I froze doing my chores tonight and I wasn’t even out that long.

How is it at your place? Stay warm everyone!

Tracy

Day 28: The Holocaust

January 29, 2019 by Tracy 9,438 Comments

The Holocaust? Do we really need to talk about it? Yes we do. Not long ago I would have stuffed my head in the sand, emu style, and tried to ignore it. Why talk or think about it if you cannot change it? Those words have come from my lips many times and not that long ago.

Watch this video and then tell me how you feel…..

Sticking your head in the sand would be much preferred over watching this devastation. After watching this (and wanting to puke and cry) I somehow think everyone should have to watch this.

The holicaust was only 74 years ago. Over roughly a 4 year period, 17 MILLION people were killed. Canada has 36 million citizens. The holocaust would be the equivilent of half of Canada’s population being killed.

All for what? Because the Nazi’s didn’t like Jewish people. If your mind is not already blown by the video and those stats, hold on, I will get you with this! Over 200,000 men worked as soldiers and as guards in the concentration camps. Forgive the upcoming and well deserved french…..200,000 fucking thousand people that thought it was ok to gas 17 million people to death. How???????? No one somehow thought to stop the devil himself? I shouldn’t say that. I do believe there were attempts. Anyways, this video and the still shots that I captured from the video got me. For some reason the one of the two men dragging the boy. That snippet of video will forever haunt me.

There is a book called “Man’s Search For Meaning.” I read part of it. It was written by a holocaust survivor and it talks about finding meaning in challenging times. I couldn’t get through it. Too heavy. Head in the sand. Maybe one day!

You know, talk about reality check. That video in mere seconds snapped my reality into perspective. How much I take for granted. If I could handle watching it every morning, I would. Would definately get my head on straight and my priorities right for the day.

Hug your loved ones and count your blessings. Night everyone!

Your heartbroken friend,

Tracy

Day 27: Winter On The Ranch

January 28, 2019 by Tracy 15,261 Comments

So winter has apparently hit in Manitoba. It’s stinkin cold here. What’s in like at your place? I have included a few picture so you can see what winter is like at our ranch here in Manitoba, Canada.

Not sure about you guys, however, I really wouldn’t mind seeing some of that green stuff or mud that our American farmer friends keep posting pictures about on Twitter. I would take that over this white stuff any day, hands down!

It’s – 30’s C (-22F I believe) in Manitoba lately. Another cold week coming! Stay warm!

As you can tell, Steele my handsome horse is not impressed!

Your Summer Lovin Friend,

Tracy

Day 26: Schedule Your Priorities

January 27, 2019 by Tracy 9,862 Comments

Honestly, I completely understand why humans cannot get to the things they want to do in life. You need to prioritize them or it won’t happen.

I learned this years ago with exercising. If I left it till evening, I would be drained, and the battle fought to get exercising was not often won. I was done…exhausted. My motivation and will power was used up for the day. Now add in super duper convincing self talk that could sell ice to an eskimo….I couldn’t stand a chance.

I now exercise EVERY morning. No excuses. It’s long part of my daily habits like brushing my teeth, eating breakfast and getting dressed for work. Scheduled and achieved. It’s non negotiable.

Now, what would you know. I leave my blogging till late and I am starting to slip. I am tired and the excitement of the new activity is starting to wear off. It’s day 26, not new and exciting anymore, and now even starting to feel like a chore. It’s also 8:30 and I am tired, not creative and easily susceptible to that little voice that piped up yonight saying “skip a night, no one with notice.”

The problem is that I completely forgot to blog Friday after getting home from Brandon and caught up with an extra post Saturday. I got away with it and now my negative self talk will try to convince me that I can do it again with strong rational like “you are tired” or “who cares, we can make it up tomorrow and no one will know.”

The truth though…I will know and that is all that matters. I keep my word for myself, and no one else, because I know that this is how habits are made and this is how I have absolute confidence in my abilities. I trust myself and know that I will not let myself down and that is all that matters.

So now that I am spotting the signs with my blogging, I realize that I need to prioritize this. Doing this as thd last thing in the evening is not working out. Stay tuned, more to come on the making of this new daily blogging habit.

Your military strict friend,

Tracy
