Day 123: Your Thoughts

May 4, 2019 by Tracy 11,728 Comments

So people often wonder what I am reading at the moment. Today, I must share one of the greatest books of all time. It is very likely THE founding book of the self help movement, and it’s the book of which a large majority of the rest of books were born from. The ideas within have created many millionaires.

It’s a book that I have had on my shelf for many years, and is now the subject of my obsessive study. You see, I am on a mental cleanse and recharge. A much needed mental recharge. It’s been a fun couple years of some hard business lessons, now it’s time to move on. Cleanse. Recharge. Launch again

The book is “Think and Grow Rich” by Napolean Hill. You probably recognize the name. It’s a classic. If you don’t have it, I recommend you toss what you are reading and run to your nearest book store to buy it.

I have the audio book and an old printed copy and I want to read this every day like Bob Proctor did and does. He is a legend himself and starred in the secret.

This book is rekindling the fire, putting a fire in my belly, and a pep in my step. It’s brewing. I have shut out all other books and podcasts and I am only allowed to read three self help books from now till goodness knows when.

It’s gold my friend. Gold, I tell ya! Read it!!!

Day 88: Chicken Soup for My Mind

March 29, 2019 by Tracy 12,742 Comments

As a business owner x 2, sometimes the unknowns and daily concerns can catch up with you. What if this or what if that? What’s happening in ag policy now and how is that going to affect our farm and our media business that provides advertising for agriculture companies looking to place their products and services in front of Canadian farmers.

On the media publishing side, if farmers are hurting they buy less of everything and that means less income for companies and this usually leads to smaller advertising budgets. Argh. It’s frustrating.

Tonight I am finding I just need a little mental conditioning and this is the one book that soothes my soul, mind and worries all at once. I have favourite chapters, however, today I decided that I was going to read this cover to cover. I need a good mental cleanse. Get some great material in and push away the sub par thoughrs.

Being in business is great, however, it’s not for the faint of heart at all. Tonight, I find thus brave hearted gal needs a little comfort in the form of a self help classic. The Power of Positive Thinking is the first self help book that I read way back in grade 11. This worn cover and yellowed page classic has got me through many worrisome and trying times.

I just picked it up for my evening read, and sure enough, two glorious lines in and I am already feeling the therapeutic effects this book always has on me. Anyways, I am off to get some “chicken noodle soup” for my mind. I just wanted to share this gem with you. If your mind needs soothing, maybe try this one. It’s based heavily on christian beliefs and wording, however, I really feel it’s a soothing read for anyone of any nationality and/or religion.

Gotto go. A old friend is calling my name ?

Day 28: The Holocaust

January 29, 2019 by Tracy 9,917 Comments

The Holocaust? Do we really need to talk about it? Yes we do. Not long ago I would have stuffed my head in the sand, emu style, and tried to ignore it. Why talk or think about it if you cannot change it? Those words have come from my lips many times and not that long ago.

Watch this video and then tell me how you feel…..

Sticking your head in the sand would be much preferred over watching this devastation. After watching this (and wanting to puke and cry) I somehow think everyone should have to watch this.

The holicaust was only 74 years ago. Over roughly a 4 year period, 17 MILLION people were killed. Canada has 36 million citizens. The holocaust would be the equivilent of half of Canada’s population being killed.

All for what? Because the Nazi’s didn’t like Jewish people. If your mind is not already blown by the video and those stats, hold on, I will get you with this! Over 200,000 men worked as soldiers and as guards in the concentration camps. Forgive the upcoming and well deserved french…..200,000 fucking thousand people that thought it was ok to gas 17 million people to death. How???????? No one somehow thought to stop the devil himself? I shouldn’t say that. I do believe there were attempts. Anyways, this video and the still shots that I captured from the video got me. For some reason the one of the two men dragging the boy. That snippet of video will forever haunt me.

There is a book called “Man’s Search For Meaning.” I read part of it. It was written by a holocaust survivor and it talks about finding meaning in challenging times. I couldn’t get through it. Too heavy. Head in the sand. Maybe one day!

You know, talk about reality check. That video in mere seconds snapped my reality into perspective. How much I take for granted. If I could handle watching it every morning, I would. Would definately get my head on straight and my priorities right for the day.

Hug your loved ones and count your blessings. Night everyone!

Your heartbroken friend,

Tracy

Day 20: Soul Sunday

January 20, 2019 by Tracy 10,184 Comments

For the longest time, I have always called Sundays…Soul Sundays. Sunday is THAT day and always has been for the longest time. Sunday for many people means church, family/friends, food and slowing down to appreciate the blessings that we have!

My Sundays are definately about staying home and slowing down. My two hardfast rules for Sunday are no outings and I MUST prepare a nice Sunday supper. I actually do get a bit mad when people put things on Sunday.

For me, Sunday is the day to “get right with my soul.” Not that I am not during the week, it’s just a different pace and focus. When I was writing this article, I searched Soul Sunday to try and find a picture that expressed this sentiment. What I found was better than I had every hoped and was divinely timed. The picture above puts into words what my thoughts and actions have aimed to do on Sundays. Perfect find!

So today I an reading a new book, might glance at the T & T Seeds catalogue and making beef barley soup for lunch and pork roast for supper (or dinner if you prefer). Definately getting right with my soul. Must run…souly things to do!

Your Soul Sunday Loving Friend,

Tracy
